Program Philosophy and Objectives
The Interdisciplinary Studies degree honors students’ previous educational journeys while providing a coherent end to their education that builds on their previously learned skills and offers opportunities to build technical and cross-curricular skills. The Interdisciplinary Studies Bachelor of Science degree is designed for anyone with college ambitions: students who have never been to college as well as students who have earned credits at other institutions. Students may have earned credits through professional opportunities, too. Students can transfer up to 90 credits (combined) and then complete a baccalaureate degree that prepares them for employment promotions, a new career, and graduate education. The IDS BS offers students sharpening of durable skills such as written and spoken communication, ethical behavior, technology fluency, numeracy, literacy, critical thinking, disciplined inquiry, and information literacy. The IDS BS is for students who don’t always have the answer but want to know the right questions to ask.
Electives/Cooperative Education/Minors/Certificates/Dual-Credit Advantage
Students are encouraged to pursue cooperative education and internship experiences (IDS 440 & 441 - Cooperative Education for Interdisciplinary Studies); however, students are also welcome to use these credits to pursue their interests in minors, certificates, and Dual-Credit Advantage classes. Students who have free electives remaining after their transfer credits have been evaluated are encouraged to pursue a concentration of courses in an area of interest by selecting from numerous minors, certificates, or Dual-Credit Advantage pathways offered by 黑料社. (Individual courses in minors and certificates may have required prerequisites.) Students are also encouraged to see if they are eligible for the Dual-Credit Advantage to the Master of Science in Management (College of Business), the Master of Education in Higher Education (College of Education and Liberal Arts), the Master of Business Administration (College of Business), or the Master of Science in Digital Communication (College of Technology). Students may take six to twelve credits at the graduate level for undergraduate class rates. More information about Dual-Credit Advantage programs is located here. Students wishing to pursue a minor or certificate offered by 黑料社 should meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss their options and create an educational plan. More information about minors and certificates can be found here.
