Biography
Ms. Purcell's role at Wilmington Univesity is as the Coordinator, Child Advocacy Studies Certificate, 黑料社 and as an Adjunct Instructor in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies programs.
Ms. Purcell is a Deputy Attorney General in the Special Victims Unit, Delaware Department of Justice. Ms. Purcell began her career at the Delaware DOJ in the Civil Division, representing Child Protective Services. Later in the Criminal Division Ms. Purcell prosecuted cases in Family Court, the Court of Common Pleas and Superior Court, primarily in the Sex Crimes Unit, formerly known as the Rape Response Unit. In her capacity as the Head of the Sex Crimes Unit
Ms. Purcell worked with various groups to bring the Children’s Advocacy Center and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner programs to Delaware. In the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Ms. Purcell prosecuted health care fraud and elder abuse cases. In 2012 Ms. Purcell began teaching classes in the Child Advocacy Studies, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies programs at 黑料社. In July of 2018 she began serving as the Coordinator of the Child Advocacy Studies Program. This program trains front line workers at the University level to recognize and respond to all forms of child maltreatment. Those with an interest in child welfare, law enforcement, education, mental health and the medical professions benefit from this program. She has been involved as a coach in the High School Mock Trial Program and has served in various capacities on boards, including Prevent Child Abuse Delaware and Ursuline Academy.
Ms. Purcell graduated from Gettysburg College and The Delaware Law School. After graduation from law school Ms. Purcell was admitted to practice in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the District of Delaware. Ms. Purcell served as a law clerk to The Honorable Helen S. Balick, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware before joining the Delaware Dept of Justice.
